Towong Turf Club

The historic Towong Turf Club has been racing horses in the magnificent Upper Murray since 1871. The course, one of the most picturesque in the State, now hosts two meetings each year, in the long weekend of March and the first Saturday after Christmas in December, and attracts thousands of return racegoers.
The course is 10km east of Corryong, an easy 1½ hour drive from Albury-Wodonga. Steeped in history, it's a nostalgic visit to the racing of yesteryear. Victoria's oldest grandstand, century-old elm trees and sweeping views to mountains the Man from Snowy River once called home - it's all to see when you visit the Towong Turf Club.
Locals consider the Costello Rural / Quadrant Securities Towong Cup in March to be one of the leading social events on the Upper Murray calendar. The cup attracts race-goers from near and far who enjoy its shady picnic spots, friendly atmosphere and breathtaking views. Many return year after year to catch up with friends.
